Overall employee engagement continues to trend lower. While this is a complicated topic and reflects many factors, what stands out is remote employees report higher engagement. My view is that the biggest advantage to remote work is that managers have to trust employees more in a remote setting and empower them to make decisions more autonomously. Trust and space to do quality work is what employees crave, so the pandemic and remote acceleration is like a forcing function for managers to do the right thing.
