The Break Issue #21: How Do You Want To Live?
Welcome to the 158 members of The Break! I missed last week as I was on vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth - Walt Disney World with my family.
I wrote a post today, it went like this:
Spent all of last week at Walt Disney World with kids and family.
But I did have:
Progress on key initiatives
I also pictured this in my mind and designed my life this way.
Here's what I didn't say:
I've been fired.
I battle anxiety and depression.
I spent decades not believing in myself.
I've mightily struggled with purpose and finding "a calling".
I've stopped and started my career many times, killing momentum.
I've been rejected.
I've dealt with bad office politics.
I've been scared shitless that I would die from stress.
If I had to summarize, I'd say,
"I decided what I didn't want."
Then I designed a life that didn't tolerate those things anymore.
Now, everyday I try to be easier on myself by:
Trusting myself more.
Feeding my energy and creativity.
Using my strengths.
Forgiving my weaknesses.
It's a life long journey - but one I am living, and if you're on a similar path, I'm here to help you BREAK it.
But you have to decide what you're no longer willing to tolerate, and start deciding how you want to live.
See you again next week.
